How to hint i want a party for my birthday?

my birthday is coming up and I really don't want tot plan anything but i want to have a party how do i hint to my bf i want a party so i don't have to plan a thing.. I've never had a surprise party but i really want one. and he isn't great at picking up hints but i don;t wanna come out and say throw me a surprise party .. so what should i do?
